Operation SM (ii)

This was the designation of Allied convoys (together with a numerical and sometimes a literal suffix) plying the route from Naples, Italy, to Marseille, France, within the context of ‘Dragoon’ (i) and following operations, and as such reciprocals of the 'MS' (iii) series (August 1944/March 1945).

The last was SM.32 of 21/23 March 1945 with four US merchant vessels in the form of the 7,191-ton Esek Hopkins, 7,176-ton Rachel Jackson, 7,181-ton US Robert H. Harrison and 7,176-ton Thomas Todd.
