'Spark' (ii) was a British naval radio deception undertaking within 'Stab' (i) in the Indian Ocean in an effort to persuade the Japanese that Admiral Sir James Somerville’s Eastern Fleet was executing a major raid on Japanese coastal positions in Burma (1/2 August 1942).
The object of the undertaking was to distract the Japanese naval focus from the Solomon islands group, where US forces were landing on Guadalcanal in 'Watchtower'.
