'Sphinx' (ii) was an Allied convoy operation to move seven merchant vessels (four British and three US) from Naples in Italy to Bizerte in Tunisia (5/7 September 1944).
The British ships were the 6,981-ton Empire Grange, 9,811-ton Empire Grenadier, 7,157-ton Fort Hall and 7,210-ton Samluzon, and the US ships were the 7,191-ton Andrew Hamilton, 7,191-ton Esek Hopkins and 7,176-ton James Barbour.
