Operation Steak

'Steak' was a British naval undertaking by elements of Admiral Sir Henry Moore’s Home Fleet to provide fighter cover for 'Counterblast' and also to carry out an air attack on shipping in the Vingvagen anchorage in German-occupied Norway and/or sweep to the west of the Leads (12/16 November 1944).

Commanded, like Force 1 in 'Counterblast', by Rear Admiral R. R. McGrigor, this Force 2 comprised the escort carrier Pursuer, the light anti-aircraft cruiser Euryalus and the destroyers Caesar, Nubian, Venus and Zephyr.

The attack also targeted shipping off Trondheim (the patrol boat V 6413 was sunk and another set on fire) and damaged shore targets including a radar station at Titran.
