Operation Syncopation

'Syncopation' was a British unrealised plan for a special forces raid by the Small Scale Raiding Force on the island of Bréhat just off the north coast of Brittany in German-occupied France (July 1942).

The object of the raid was to have been the capture of prisoners for subsequent interrogation, but the undertaking was cancelled after it had been realised that the island was close to the landing area proposed for 'Sledgehammer', and might therefore betray current Allied thinking about an invasion of the European mainland.
