Operation TACA

'TACA' was the designation of Allied military convoys (together with a numerical suffix) plying the route from the Thames river to Antwerp, Belgium, until replaced by the 'TAM' series, and as such reciprocals of the 'ATM' series (November/December 1944).

The first of these five convoys was TACA.58 of 27/28 November with the 7,028-ton British Empire Perdita, 7,130-ton British Fort Cataqui, 7,176-ton US James B. Weaver, 7,244-ton US Richard S. Ewell, 7,210-ton British Samhope and 7,181-ton US William Dean Howells. The last was TACA.62 of 1/2 December with the 7,176-ton US Charles D. Poston, 7,176-ton US David Caldwell, 7,193-ton US E. Kirby Smith, 6,192-ton British Elona, 7,176-ton US Florence Crittenton, 7,177-tons Norwegian Frithjof Nansen, 7,240-ton US James L. Ackerson, 7,191-ton US John Mitchell, 7,191-ton US John Henry Lee, 7,191-ton US Samuel McIntyre and 7,177-ton US William Hawkins.
