Operation TT

'TT' was an Italian convoy operation across the Mediterranean (26/27 October 1942).

The 'TT' convoy comprised two transport ships and one tanker, escorted by the torpedo boats Calatafimi, Ciclone, Lira, Monzabano and Partenope, and was bound from Souda Bay on the north coast of Crete to Tobruk on the coast of North Africa. The convoy was attacked by five groups of British aircraft. The 4,869-ton tanker Proserpina was hit by two air-launched torpedoes and sank, and the cost to the British was four aircraft shot down. The 5,890-ton transport ship Tergestea was also torpedoed, and sank off Tobruk.
