'Tweezer' was an Allied deception designed to maintain the notional existence of Lieutenant General George S. Patton’s US 1^st Army Group by the addition of the fictional British II Corps to its establishment in place of Lieutenant General G. G. Simonds’s Canadian II Corps and Major General Walton H. Walker’s US XX Corps sent or being readied for despatch to Normandy for service in the 'Overlord' lodgement (8 June 1944).
