'Ukridge' was a British deception designed by Colonel David Strangeways' 'D' Division to persuade the Japanese not to reinforce their forces in Burma (January/March 1944).
Related to 'Malinger', 'Ukridge' was based on the creation firstly of credible threats of British amphibious assaults on Ramree on the western coastal region of Burma, the Andaman islands group in the Bay of Bengal and the northern part of Sumatra in the Netherlands East Indies, and secondly of a credible threat of a British airborne assault on the Mandalay area of central Burma.
