'Union III' was an Allied special forces operation to parachute a nine-man inter-Allied Mission party into the Maurienne area of Savoie in German-occupied France in an area close to the frontier with Switzerland (12 August 1944 onward).

The party’s objective was to establish liaison with the local resistance forces and prepare for the possible arrival of weapon and equipment drops.
