'Veilchen' (iii) was a German operation to secure the disengagement of Generalleutnant Fritz Bayerlein’s (from 15 January Generalmajor Horst Niemack’s) Panzer-Lehr-Division of General Heinrich Freiherr von Lüttwitz’s XLVII Panzerkorps within General Hasso-Eccard Freiherr von Manteuffel’s 5^th Panzerarmee from the line between Dochamps and Longchamps in the area of St Hubertus in the Belgian Ardennes toward the end of 'Wacht am Rhein' so that the division could withdraw to Germany’s western frontier (11/20 January 1945).
