'Weissdorn' was a German intelligence undertaking, by the Abwehr’s Abteilung II sabotage and special purposes department, in which a pro-German South African was sent to work under cover in South Africa to establish links with a Boer organisation, the Ossewabrandwag, opposed to the pro-British government of Field Marshal Jan Smuts, and encourage it to commit itself to sabotage operations (3 April 1941 onward).
