'Wilderness I' of 1/2 April was a radio deception simulating an amphibious assault exercise by Major General C. Vokes’s Canadian 1st Division in the area to the south of Salerno.
'Wilderness II' of 6/7 April was a radio deception simulating an amphibious assault exercise by Major General Fred L. Walker’s US 36th Division, under command of Lieutenant General E. L. M. Burns’s Canadian I Corps, in the Gulf of Pozzuoli.
