Operation Willi (ii)

Billy

'Willi' (ii) was a German naval raid on British shipping off the Isle of Wight (10/11 October 1940).

The attack was made by the torpedo boats Falke, Greif, Kondor, Seeadler and Wolf of Korvettenkapitän Wolf Henne’s 5th Torpedoboots-Flottille and, after a skirmish with the Free French submarine chasers CH6 and CH7, sank the 778-ton trawler Listrac and 445-ton trawler Warwick Deeping. On their passage back to base, the German ships had another short skirmish, this time with the destroyers Jackal, Jaguar, Jupiter, Kelvin and Kipling.
