Operation Williams (i)

'Williams' (i) was a US radio cover operation for Lieutenant General Omar N. Bradley’s US 1st Army in the approach to 'Overlord' (9 May/6 June 1944).

'Williams' (i) simulated the 1st Army’s radio net between 9 May, when the real network closed, and 6 June when it went on the air once more as 'Overlord' began. 'Williams' (i) was therefore the US counterpart of 'Quaker', which provided similar cover for Lieutenant General Sir Miles Dempsey’s British 2nd Army.
