Operation Lettow-Vorbeck

(German commander in East Africa during World War I)

'Lettow-Vorbeck' was the German codeword for the start of the 'Litzmann' break-out of General (from 1 April Generaloberst) Hans-Valentin Hube’s 1st Panzerarmee of Generalfeldmarschall Erich von Manstein’s Heeresgruppe 'Süd' from its encirclement in the Kamenets-Podolsky pocket (27 March 1944).
