Operation Barracuda
'Barracuda' was an Allied unrealised plan for a combined airborne and amphibious assault on the Italian port city of Naples by Lieutenant General Mark W. Clark’s US 5th Army (summer/27 July 1943).
No detailed plans were evolved for the operation, which presupposed a collapse by the Italian armed forces, and the whole concept was cancelled on 27 July 1943.
