'Svartisen' was a German air force weather station to the south-east of Spitsbergen in the area to the north of German-occupied Norway (October 1943/July 1944).

Placed on the island under cover of 'Sizilien', the base was located on Hopen island, and the four-man team was led by a meteorologist named Ertl.
