'Westwind' (i) was a German naval gunfire and manoeuvre diversion by smaller warships on the western side of the island of Saaremaa (Ösel in German) in tandem with 'Nordwind' (i) and 'Südwind' (ii), and therefore in support of 'Beowulf II' off the coast of Estonia (13 September 1941).
The operation was undertaken by the torpedo boats T 2, T 5, T 8 and T 11, the S-boote of Korvettenkapitän Rudolf Petersen’s 2nd Schnellboots-Flottille and Kapitänleutnant Friedrich Kemnade’s 3rd Schnellboots-Flottille, and nine smaller craft.
